Impact and Opportunities: Higher Education in Nottinghamshire

The ‘Impact and Opportunities: Higher Education in Nottinghamshire’ event will take place on Wednesday 30 June and will showcase outreach opportunities that can be accessed locally. The day is aimed at teachers, head teachers, careers advisers in schools and colleges, personal advisers, local authorities, and any practitioners with an interest in higher education.
The event is being organised collaboratively between Aimhigher Nottinghamshire, Nottingham Trent University, The University of Nottingham, The Open University, Connexions, Castle College Nottingham, New College Nottingham, South Nottingham College and West Nottinghamshire College. It will be held at the Nottingham Conference Centre, Newton Building, Nottingham Trent University, City Campus.
In addition to 30 round-table discussions focusing on ‘What’s New’, ‘Transition, Progression and Pre Entry IAG’ and ‘Subject Specific’ sessions (with a focus on science, technology, engineering and maths), there will be three keynote addresses:
- Dave Coppock, Director of Aimhigher Nottinghamshire, will comment on the local and national higher education landscape post election
- Steve McKenna, an additional inspector of schools contracted to SERCO on behalf of Ofsted, will focus on the link between how Aimhigher and higher education activity can contribute to a school’s self evaluation; and
- Mike Kerrigan, Aimhigher in the East Midlands, will reflect on attainment and progression trends in Nottinghamshire.
Delegates can choose to attend for the whole day, morning or afternoon depending on area of interest.
