Aimhigher Nottinghamshire spring newsletter - maths focus special

Aimhigher Nottinghamshire News

For the latest news on Aimhigher events, activities and resources look no further than the Spring 10 Aimhigher Nottinghamshire newsletter.  This issue focuses on maths attainment raising activities, including the recent 5-day maths conference, ‘Raising the grade’ which 378 local students attended.

Following HEFCE’s recent publication ‘Trends in young participation in higher education: core results for England’, Michael Kerrigan analysis local data to determine Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire trends in young participation in higher education.

We review the OMEGA programme, which provides information and support to young people with disabilities, who are considering higher education and we look back on the first year of the Nottinghamshire Aimhigher Associates Scheme.

Plus, there are two fantastic new resources for young people who want to progress to higher education via work-based learning: ‘After your Advanced Apprenticeship’ and ‘The foundation degree guide’.

Additional features this month include:

The Smallpeice Trust ‘working with others’ accreditation programme

  • Details of the TLA English and maths workshops
  • A review of the Theatre& schools tour
  • An interview with Aimhigher Associate Mithun Parambath
  • Spotlight on the year 9 & 10 Hadden Park student design group
