The Future of Widening Participation in Nottinghamshire

Aimhigher Nottinghamshire News

On Thursday 10 February 2011, we held an event for practitioners, both operational and strategic, to look at the impact of Aimhigher, to consider what aspects of Aimhigher’s work we should seek to continue and how that might be achieved, now that the coalition government has determined that Aimhigher will not continue beyond July 2011.

The event was held at the Nottingham Conference Centre, a brand new modern conference facility in the heart of Nottingham city centre housed in Nottingham Trent University’s Grade II* listed Newton Building.

Both the morning and the afternoon session included a presentation by Penelope Griffin, Head of Widening Participation at The University of Nottingham, and Martin Webster, Head of Widening Participation at Nottingham Trent University, on ‘The Commitment to Widening Participation, Institutional Priorities and Constraints’.

During the lunch break delegates had the opportunity to visit and exhibition where they could establish / develop contacts with local universities, colleges and other third party organisations with a view to planning activity post July.

If you wish to receive a copy of the presentation, please contact Dave Coppock, Director of Aimhigher Nottinghamshire, by emailing dave.coppock@ntu.ac.uk or calling 0115 848 4872.
