Aimhigher Associates
"There is something you must always remember…you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we are apart...I’ll always be with you!"
'Winnie the Pooh'Why has Aimhigher introduced this scheme?
There is strong evidence that many school and college students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the ability to do well in higher education are not being given the encouragement and opportunity to do so.The Aimhigher Associates scheme uses undergraduate students from higher education institutions as mentors, supporting under-represented learners so that they will be able to progress to higher education equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed even at the most competitive higher education institutions.
The Scheme is being funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), and it will have access to £21m over the three academic years from 2008 to 2011.
